In our laboratory metalware consumables, we prioritize the use of the finest corrosion-resistant 304 stainless steel. The relationship between laboratory cleanliness and stainless steel is integral, as the latter provides the necessary corrosion resistance to prevent product contamination.
Features:
- Quick Cleaning: Stainless steel’s quick cleaning ability and attractive shiny appearance make it the preferred material for applications requiring sterile surfaces.
- Durability: While highly durable, stainless steel can be susceptible to scratches or scuffs.
Information
Stainless Steel 304: Known as an 18/8 Alloy, Stainless Steel 304 is tailored for corrosion resistance and durability, which is ideal for laboratory routines. It exhibits superior corrosion resistance with approximately 18% chromium and 8% nickel compared to lower-cost magnetic stainless steel.
Corrosion Resistance:
- Water: Stainless steel is metallurgically incapable of rusting in water. Rust stains may appear due to water-borne minerals but can be removed with specific cleaners.
- Acids: While stainless steel offers limited resistance to certain acids, like sulphuric acid, chlorides in hydrochloric acid pose a high risk of pitting corrosion.
- Alkalis: Stainless steel is generally unaffected by alkali solutions, maintaining its integrity in laboratory settings.
Quality Assurance: We demand high-quality 304 stainless steel from traceable sources to ensure its chromium composition meets specified levels, providing corrosion resistance for demanding laboratory applications.
High-Temperature Performance: Stainless Steel 304 operates effectively within a normal temperature range of -196 to +550°C. Due to potential corrosion effects, continuous use in the 550-870°C range is not recommended.
Cleaning and Maintenance: Routine cleaning is essential to preserve stainless steel’s appearance and corrosion resistance. Various cleaning methods, from water and wipes to solvent cleaning, ensure effective removal of contaminants without compromising integrity.
Note to Users: Avoid chloride-containing detergents or carbon steel or wire wool brushes when cleaning stainless steel, as they may compromise its integrity.
